The partnership is rooted in the need for Financial Institutions (FI‘s) to standardize reporting on sustainability and to provide transparency on their performance.
Financial Institutions play a key role in supporting the European Commissions‘ Green Deal, as they can influence their clients‘ choices regarding emissions reductions. The challenge is to measure accurately the effort needed. Climact has helped many companies across industries in the last 15 years to define a clear course for measuring GHG emissions and setting their climate goals. As such, they are a preferred partner for FI’s, helping them measure the climate risk of their portfolio and communicate their performance in a transparent way.
Zielke Research Consult GmbH was closely involved in developing the Eu- ropean Corporate Sustainability Reporting or CSRD directive and has been analysing sustainability reports of FI’s for the last five years. Transforming information into userfriendly format is one of their expertise. They currently qualify financial products in line with the EU Taxonomy.
Together, Climact and Zielke Research Consult GmbH can improve FI’s sus- tainability information, making their efforts measurable. The PCAF method for measuring Scope 3 emissions of the investment and credit portfolio for instance is a big step towards more transparency.
„I am very excited by the combination of our respective technical expertise in order to contribute to the Green Deal“, says founderr and managing partner Carsten Zielke of Zielke Research Consult. „Coming from different cultures is also an asset when approaching European projects”.
“The teams at Climact and Zielke Research Consult GmbH offer a unique blend of expertise to support Financial Institutions in Belgium and internationally, offering guidance in minimizing climate change risks and exposure in line with the latest regulatory and sciencebased evolutions”, says Hugues de Meulemeester, Founding Partner at Climact.
The CSRD will offer more standardisation in sustainability reporting.
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive that will replace the Non-Financial Reporting Directive intends to bring more standardisation for sustainability reporting in Europe. To reach this goal, the CSRD will enforce more detailed reporting requirements and introduce mandatory assurance.
