In order to motivate employees to exercise more and to promote their health, Roger Hessels and Till Föste, Managing Directors of Garlock GmbH, announced the Employee Sports Weeks for June and July 2021 in the company. During this period, each participating employee accumulates their activity minutes in the sports group of an app. To emphasise the team spirit, each employee received a Garlock team jersey in advance.

However, the health of the "Garlockers" is not the only focus of this project, but also the support of an extremely committed social institution in Neuss, Garlock GmbH’s home town. With every minute of sport, the Garlock employees contribute to a donation by Garlock GmbH for the benefit of Initiative Schmetterling Neuss e.V..

The Initiative Schmetterling Neuss e.V. is an outpatient children’s and youth hospice service that supports families with children with life-shortening illnesses, severe disabilities, or who have died. The family support and the administrative activities of the association are carried out by full-time and voluntary staff, who are professionally supported by specialists.

The donation is intended to support the work of the Initiative Schmetterling Neuss e.V. so that the services can continue to be offered free of charge to the affected families.

According to Birgit Ritter, managing director of Initiative Schmetterling Neuss e.V., the work of the outpatient children’s and youth hospice service faced new kinds of challenges during the pandemic. Family support, which normally takes place at home in the everyday life of the sick child’s family, can currently often not proceed along the usual lines. Creativity, digital media and extraordinary commitment are needed here, which the full-time and voluntary members are currently providing.

Garlock GmbH is pleased to be able to combine sport, health, and a good deed for two months during this campaign.
