trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria (TMA), the network for actively temperature-controlled pharmaceutical transports at 2–8 and 15–25 °C in the Alpine Republic, is implementing a generational management switch by way of a seamless transition. Effective as of 1 August 2024, Thomas Handlos has been appointed Managing Director for the Operations division. He succeeds Stefan Gerber, who will assist Handlos in his familiarisation process until 2025 before then retiring from active professional life. “We wish to sincerely thank Stefan Gerber, who has successfully contributed to the development of trans-o-flex’s services in various positions for more than fifteen years,” said Eugen Günther, management spokesman of trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria. “Additionally, we are pleased that the solution we have found will help to ensure a seamless transition in this important position.” Alongside Günther and Handlos, Michael Schmidt remains a part of TMA’s management, where he is responsible for the Finance division.

Handlos, who is 45 years old, has worked as a Key Account Manager at the Augustin Quehenberger Group for the past two years. Prior to that, he held various positions at the pharmaceutical delivery service transmed in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia for over seven years. Among other roles he held, he was also the Managing Director in Austria and headed the Slovakian company in Bratislava. His career also includes positions at the logistics service provider Fiege in Vienna and Schachinger Pharmalogistik & Logistik Holding, also in Vienna.

trans-o-flex’s core areas of expertise are logistics solutions for the healthcare, cosmetics and consumer electronics industries and other sensitive goods. The company has built up transport networks to carry goods throughout Germany and Austria at 15 to 25 degrees Celsius or 2 to 8 degrees Celsius actively temperature-controlled and documented in accordance with EU regulations for healthcare transport. These EU-GDPs require the highest standards for safety and security, cleanliness, reliability and transparency, from which all trans-o-flex customers benefit. trans-o-flex operates internationally via the networks EUROTEMP (temperature-controlled logistics) and EURODIS (in 38 European countries). In contrast to parcel and groupage services, trans-o-flex delivers parcels and pallets on a consolidated basis. trans-o-flex Express offers numerous express and time-slot deliveries, special services such as hazardous goods transportation (without minimum quantity regulation), consignment consolidation and direct deliveries. The range of services is complemented by warehousing, order picking and individual value-added services such as serialisation and deserialisation of pharmaceuticals. This means that the company covers the entire logistics chain from procurement through to fulfilment. In addition, trans-o-flex is part of GEODIS and can therefore utilise the French group’s global logistics services. The annual turnover of the trans-o-flex companies, which employ a total of around 2,000 people, amounted to around 603 million euros in 2023. More information is available at www.trans-o-flex.com.
