Natural and man-made disasters can be incredibly devastating and require well-organized responses across various organizations and departments. The importance and need for innovative solutions in the area of crisis management and disaster recovery was highlighted last week at the Digital Transformation World in Copenhagen, where the best and most outstanding TM Forum Catalyst projects were honored. The Catalyst "Autonomous networks hyperloops – Phase V – virtual command center as a service” was honored with the award "Outstanding Catalyst – Beyond Telco".

In the project, Infosim® worked together with the leading telecommunications companies Verizon, MTN, Orange, NTT, Intersec, Cognizant, Antel, Celfocus, Chunghwa Telecom, ESRI, Futurewei, TIM and UBiqube to develop a virtual command center (VCC) for disaster management.

Disaster recovery – a matter of life and death

In the event of a disaster or emergency, every second counts. Unrestricted, global insight into critical infrastructures and resources as well as resilient communication channels are essential to effectively coordinate search and rescue activities and minimize the impact of a crisis as much as possible.

This Catalyst aims to improve disaster & crisis management through the development of a Virtual Command Center (VCC). Through the use of autonomous networks, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins, the project seeks to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency during crises such as natural disasters and conflicts.

The VCC is intended to provide a central management point that can be used to monitor all critical infrastructure and resources in the event of an emergency or disaster, allowing decisions to be made quickly and efficiently.

Infosim® brought its more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the field of network monitoring, inventory and fault management to the Catalyst to ensure holistic network transparency and optimal performance.

"This project as well as the previous Catalysts have proven the adaptability and scalability of our automated network and service management solution StableNet® by successfully integrating with TM Forum API’s as well as various third party systems and vendors." – Dr. Stefan Köhler, CEO at Infosim®.

Service Assurance Dashboards from StableNet® have been used to display overall performance information as well as logical 3D topology views to monitor, visualize and analyze service conditions.

Infosim® builds on past successes

"We are delighted to receive this year’s Catalyst award, which not only underlines the relevance of the topic and the successful implementation of the project, but also the outstanding teamwork behind it. We are very proud of our joint success, which was only possible due to the continuous cooperation with our esteemed partners and the tireless efforts of everyone involved." – Dr. David Hock, Director of Research at Infosim®.

Infosim® is a proud TM Forum partner and is pleased to have been a regular participant in the Catalyst program over the past decade. With its fourth Catalyst award, the company plans on continuing this success by participating in a Catalyst again next year.
