The weather and track conditions proved to be as challenging as predicted on the eve of the race and not dissimilar to those of last week’s GTWC race, i.e. intense and often violent rain, albeit intermittent, which put as much strain on the teams and drivers as it did on the tyres. Thus, the P Zero and Cinturato wet WHA tyres alternated on the track, which the drivers resorted to especially in race 2, given the intensity of the rain. Even in race 1, some opted for the wet tyres, but the best solution turned out to be to stay with the P Zeros.
PIRELLI QUOTE
Matteo Braga, Circuit Activity Manager at Pirelli: "With their reliability and versatility, due to their wide working range, tyres once again proved to be a key element in ensuring some very close races, in which the weather played an important role and in which we saw cars from different brands get on the podium, with very small gaps. In eight DTM races, we have had eight different winners, confirming the high competitiveness of this series. As in last Sunday’s GTWC race, again here at the Nürburgring, the winners were those who first knew how to adapt to the situation and exploit the opportunities offered by the track characteristics and conditions.
P ZERO DHF AND CINTURATO WHA
Pirelli P Zero DHF is a tyre developed to meet the specific requirements of all GT classes. Features of the DHF include a wide working range and a new construction solution, which optimises the car’s balance with a better connection between the front and rear axles. The Cinturato WHA are the wet-weather tyres designed to maintain the performance and reliability characteristics of the DHF even in wet conditions.
