With the LANCOM LX-6500 Wi-Fi 6E access point, the German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM Systems launches the next stage in Wi-Fi. In addition to the 2.4- and 5-GHz frequency bands, this access point uses the 6-GHz band reserved exclusively for Wi-Fi applications, effectively doubling the available radio spectrum. The exclusivity in the 6-GHz range makes the LANCOM LX-6500 a future-proof basis for Gigabit Wi-Fi in high-traffic environments with a high density of end devices, such as at schools, offices, universities, shopping centers, hospitals, or arenas.

The new Wi-Fi 6E access point has three integrated IEEE 802.11ax radio modules for parallel operation at 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz, it offers 4×4 multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) for the uplink and downlink, as well as OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) for the concurrent management of large numbers of clients. The LANCOM LX-6500 supports channel bandwidths of 20, 40, 80 and 160 MHz (all with 4 streams). It therefore integrates not only clients in the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz frequency bands, but also the very latest end devices in the 6-GHz band. By spreading end devices across more radio spectrum and channels, transmission rates are possible with up to 4,800 Mbps at 6 GHz and, in parallel, up to 2,400 Mbps at 5 GHz and up to 1,150 Mbps at 2.4 GHz—for cumulative throughput rates of up to 8.4 Gbps.

The LANCOM LX-6500 is equipped with two 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet ports. Power is supplied either via PoE IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++, 4PPoE) or an optionally available power supply unit.

State-of-the-art security comes with WPA3-Personal and IEEE 802.1X (WPA3-Enterprise), although the predecessor versions WPA2-Personal and WPA2-Enterprise can still be configured. Furthermore, the access point supports virtualization features such as multi-SSID and VLAN.

Optional operation as cloud-managed Wi-Fi

Like all current LANCOM access points, the new Wi-Fi 6E model offers maximum versatility in operation: It can be operated independently via the web GUI or managed centrally using zero-touch deployment via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). It can also operate with a WLAN controller or with a virtual controller in a LANCOM vRouter.

Professional IoT support via BLE and USB

Support for Bluetooth Low Energy (5.1) and USB 3.0 opens up many possibilities to communicate with modern Wi-Fi sensors in devices or objects and to use innovative applications such as asset tracking. Solutions for digital room signage, electronic shelf labels and other ePaper applications are easily implemented using the optionally available LANCOM Wireless ePaper USB stick.

The LANCOM LX -6500 is available now at a price (RRP) of EUR 1,499 excluding VAT.

As an ideal complement to Wi-Fi 6E, LANCOM added a further multi-Gigabit model to the switch portfolio. The LANCOM GS-3528XUP supports 2.5 Gigabits with PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt, type 4, up to 90W per port) on 12 of its ports. It is thus a high-power basis for operating Wi-Fi 6E access points via PoE and other network components with high performance requirements, such as PoE-fired lighting concepts or touch-screen solutions. The LANCOM GS-3528XUP is available now at a price (RRP) of EUR 2,590 excluding VAT.
