TÜV Rheinland already agreed on a long-term cooperation with Siemens Gamesa at the beginning of the year for tests on offshore wind turbines in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. With this contract, TÜV Rheinland is intensifying its cooperation with Siemens Gamesa, which has been in place since 2017. TÜV Rheinland will inspect the service lifts and cranes of the wind turbines that are maintained by Siemens Gamesa on behalf of the turbine operators. This includes turbines from the manufacturers Siemens Gamesa, Adwen and Senvion.

“Thanks to the multiple authorizations of our offshore inspectors, we were able to offer Siemens Gamesa a package solution for service lifts and crane inspections,” explains Lars-Christian Mitzka, Team Leader Offshore Wind at TÜV Rheinland. “With our multi-authorized inspectors, we offer customers a number of benefits. For example, it makes the inspections less expensive, as fewer offshore personnel are needed.”

Expanding offshore business

There are currently more than 1,500 offshore wind turbines in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, and the number is rising. TÜV Rheinland has already inspected service lifts at the “Borkum” and “GlobalTech1” wind farms on behalf of Siemens Gamesa in 2021. Next year, the testing service provider will again significantly expand its testing activities through the framework agreement. “TÜV Rheinland will further expand its existing offshore business. As a service provider, we adapt to the needs of our customers and look forward to further cooperation with Siemens Gamesa,” emphasizes Dr. Sebastian Rothe, Head of the Wind Energy Business Field for Germany at TÜV Rheinland. In addition to the cooperation in the offshore sector, TÜV Rheinland also supports Siemens Gamesa in numerous onshore projects.
