Australia needs reliable services for its more than 7 million kilometers of the rail network to meet the industrial and commercial demands that prevail there. The monitoring of activities in the wagons is an important criterion in this respect. To cover this service by the police is too personnel- and cost-intensive. Thefts and robberies are a regular occurrence on trains and to still ensure public safety, authorities have installed DVR systems with IP cameras to monitor the carriages and the activities inside. These reliable AIoT-enabled devices require fast memory to receive interference-free video and ensure its analysis without loss of speed. The railway’s Australian IT partner selected Innodisk memory and DRAM solutions because it felt they met the requirements for quality, ease of integration, and secure data management. The SSDs must have a high capacity to store the amount of data from several connected IP cameras. At the same time, each camera delivers high-resolution data material that must be processed at high and stable write speeds to avoid image loss. The components used must be robust, resistant, and compact, as they are exposed to constant vibrations and voltages.

DRAMs with a capacity of 2 GB and a DDR3 speed of 1333MT/s in the compact SODIMM form factor are used. The Toshiba TLC 3D NAND in industrial quality with high-quality NAND flash technology from Innodisk, which is also used, has a storage capacity of 4TB. It is firmware-optimized for surveillance applications with high and stable write speeds. All modules have a small form factor and are designed for the harsh conditions on board vehicles.

The Australian IT partner thus delivers a DVR security system with an SSD and DRAM solution from Innodisk to process data from multiple connected IP cameras with a 5MP resolution of 2,560 x 1,960. This enables all camera modules to provide stable video data feeds and steady video analytics to the installed DVR system.
