Insurance industry recognizes high risk of damage from human-based attacks
Cyberattacks are one of the biggest business risks globally and across all industries. This caused billions of euros in damage worldwide in 2020 alone. Two out of five small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Switzerland have also already fallen victim to a cyberattack. SoSafe, provider of an interactive training platform on cyber security, and Zurich Insurance in Switzerland are now joining forces to take action against cybercrime: Effective immediately, Zurich is expanding its cyber insurance for SMEs with a prevention program from SoSafe. Swiss companies with up to 250 employees can thus effectively train their employees on cyber security and sustainably reduce the risk of these attacks.
"With this cooperation, we are setting an example together with Zurich Insurance: In addition to technical measures, employee training in particular can help protect against costly cyberattacks. We are very pleased that the insurance industry has recognized the human factor’s importance in cyber security and that we can now also raise awareness among employees of SMEs together with Zurich," says Lukas Schaefer, SoSafe CEO.
Zurich Switzerland expands its cyber insurance to include awareness training
From now on, all SMEs that take out cyber insurance with Zurich Switzerland will benefit from the security training. The service includes interactive e-learning modules based on current behavioral psychology findings. These are individually adapted to Zurich’s corporate branding.
"In cyberattacks, people are considered the weakest link. Employees often unintentionally become the gateway for hackers. That’s why it’s so important to raise their awareness of cyberattacks," comments Stephan von Watzdorf, Head of Cyber at Zurich Switzerland. "After all, we already protect our customers from the financial consequences of cyberattacks. But it is even better for companies if they can defend against the attacks in advance. We are pleased to have gained an internationally renowned prevention partner in SoSafe."
Made in Germany – for the whole world: safety training for employees
As a leading provider in the DACH region, SoSafe relies on interactive learning methods that regularly raise awareness and thus sustainably increase the effectiveness of learning. The content relating to cyber security and data protection is now available in 23 languages and enables companies to easily and effectively build their "human firewall".
Zurich Switzerland’s cyber insurance customers also have the option of expanding SoSafe’s security training as needed—for example, with additional e-learning modules or phishing simulations.
The SoSafe Awareness Platform sensitizes and trains employees in dealing with the topics of cyber security and data protection. Regular phishing simulations and interactive e-learnings teach employees in an effective and sustainable way what to pay special attention to when, for example, using emails, passwords or social media. The employer receives anonymous but nuanced reporting and can thereby make awareness building measurable – completely in compliance with GDPR.
