The programme will assess and evaluate the benefits of introducing unconventional refrigeration methods to aid process performance. Engineered temporary cooling solutions will be explored that allow for: unit debottlenecking, mitigation of deteriorated utilities conditions, and support of operation while processing
opportunity crudes.
An industry discussion will take place via a live webinar on Thursday 26 November at 11am (GMT), and hosted by Massimo Capra. For the first time ever, the renowned refinery and chemical process engineering expert, will share his 35 years of experience to help engineers overcome a plethora of challenges
exacerbated by the 2020 pandemic.
Massimo says: “Refinery managers and engineers are under immense pressure to keep their petrochemical plant safe, productive and cost-effective, despite facing turnarounds and ageing equipment challenges. This webinar looks at how to enhance process performances of vacuum distillation in petrochemical refineries through unconventional applications of industrial refrigeration.”
As well as Europe, Massimo supports Aggreko in Russia and the Caspian area, as well as the Middle East’s refining and petrochemical sectors. He worked as a Process Technologist and Team Leader at the
Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (Nobel Peace Prize 2013), conducting more than 150 process assessments at chemical facilities.
His course is aimed at managers and engineers who work within a petrochemical refinery and want to make simple, cost effective changes to improve their business at this time.
It will cover topics such as: Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) as part of the refinery backbone; Crude Distillation
Unit (CDU) and VDU thermal integration; scope of the VDU in the refining process; vacuum generating equipment; the benefits of achieving deeper vacuum; industrial refrigeration as a tool to improve vacuum; and temporary revamps with refrigeration for hire.
